Lisa Burress, MSW, LICSW, RPT-S

Lisa has received her Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of North Dakota and a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from Westmont College. She is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in Washington State (#LW60975497), a Child Mental Health Specialist, and a Registered Play Therapist. Her experience includes working with adults, teenagers, children, and families in a variety of settings.

Lisa’s focus includes mood and behavior management, depression, anxiety, relationship problems, divorce and separation, trauma, crisis intervention, foster care and adoption, parenting skills, and working with children and adults with developmental disabilities. She has previous experience providing wrap-around services for families in Kitsap County and is familiar with a variety of local systems and community resources. She has completed training in many therapeutic interventions including trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy, child parent relationship training, collaborative problem solving, motivational interviewing, solution-focused brief therapy, play therapy, and more.

Lisa holds the belief that each person is an expert in their life and approaches treatment from a strengths-based perspective. As a result, she uses a collaborative process with the individual or family to develop treatment goals that fit realistic outcomes likely to be achieved through therapy. Her goal is to walk alongside the individual or family in whatever they may be going through, provide a safe space to process thoughts and emotions, and to assist individuals and families in obtaining the knowledge and resources necessary to make informed decisions to enhance their own well-being.
