I am a Washington State Licensed Mental Health Counselor and earned a masters degree in counseling with a Specialization in Marriage, Family and Child counseling. I specialize in the treatment of adults, adolescents, couples and families with a range of issues. My specialties include adolescent and women’s matters, sexual abuse trauma, couples and relationship issues, Grief and loss, and mood disorders. I am a clinical member of the American Mental Health Counselor Association. I have been practicing in Kitsap County since 1993.
I utilize an eclectic therapeutic approach that includes client education, cognitive and behavioral therapy, EMDR, family systems, and humanistic discipline. Therapy is a voluntary process in which members work together or individually to bring positive changes to relationships as well as the quality of one’s own life. You are a unique sum of all your life experiences and I am responsible for tailoring the treatment to your unique and individual resources but you are responsible for doing the therapeutic work. Owning responsibility for your own feelings and actions is the first step toward making healthy choices and changes in your life. Therapy can provide insight regarding pattern behaviors and builds on individual and family strengths. One of my therapeutic objectives is to teach you how to; look at yourself holistically, evaluate whether what you are doing is genuinely benefiting you, and set goals for more rewarding relationships. I may provide homework assignments tools for furthering that objective, for which you will be responsible.
